Macao, Izmir, Bursa or Xiamen are not the best known cities
on the planet, but they are among the 10 that grew the most in 2014.
The results of a study of more than 300 cities of the US
research center Brookings Institute show that five of the 10 with the most
economic growth are in China, four in Turkey and the rest is Dubai.
Tokyo, New York, Paris and London, which are among the
richest on the planet, have not had the same levels of growth as these cities
in developing countries.
Joseph Parilla, co-author of the study, is not surprised by
this difference.
"The measure of growth is the growth of GDP per capita
because it gives an idea of the average income and the growth of employment
due to its economic impact. the developed countries, "Parilla told BBC
World.
Globally, the 300 large cities the Brookings Institute
compares account for 20% of the world's population, but account for 50% of the
world's economic output.
Macao tops the table, followed by Izmir , Istanbul and Mursa
.
Fifth is Dubai .
In the sixth, seventh and eighth the Chinese Kunming ,
Hangzhou and Xiamen .
The Turkish capital Ankara is in ninth place: it closes the
table of the first 10 the Chinese Fuzhou .
